Location: Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Treaty 3 Territory.
Evan J (he/him) is from Manitoba and now works and writes in the town of Sioux Lookout, Treaty 3 Territory, Ontario. Evan’s debut book of poetry, Ripping down half the trees, will be published in June 2021 by McGill-Queen’s University Press. Evan is currently on the selection committee for the Winnipeg International Writers Festival, and runs poetry workshops in Northwestern Ontario with Vallum magazine’s “Poetry for our Future!” program. For several years, Evan worked for Brick, A Literary Journal, was the Poetry Editor for Existere magazine, and directed the Slackline Creative Arts Reading Series in Toronto. Evan has been nominated for a handful of literary awards including the CV2 Young Buck Poetry Prize and subTerrain magazine’s Lush Triumphant Literary Award for Poetry. Evan’s also a previous winner of the Vallum Award for Poetry. Evan has used his first name too often in this bio. Learn more at EvanJ.ca.
